The Komatsu Mining Company Germany GmbH in Düsseldorf, subsidiary of the Japanese company Komatsu Ltd., designs, produces and markets heavy hydraulic excavators for operation throughout the world. The special feature here: each excavator is a one off.

Project definition by our customer

Generally, the fact that each excavator is a one-off does not only place the manufacturer with a very special challenge, but also arvato services as documentation service provider as, not only each excavator is a one-off, but each documentation as well.
With one of our Komatsu protects, special maintenance manuals of the Komatsu excavator had to be created for the Australian market at short notice. The manuals should be created in English, protected against unauthorised reproduction (copyright) and, as a matter of course, correspond with the Australian safety regulations.

Solution for our client

Manuals should integrate seamlessly into the marketing concept of a company as they are an important component of the market presence. In the initial stage, this is why arvato services compiled templates for the new manuals under strict adherence to the corporate design of the Japanese parent company.
The corresponding technical documents were then compiled in English in close cooperation with the Komatsu technicians. A translation did not have to be carried out, an important measure in order to maintain the tight time schedule.
The new documentation was standardised and structured modularly at the same time. Individual chapters that are the same with different excavators can simply be taken over.
The completed manuals were then produced on copy-proof paper.

Other co-operations

arvato services supports Komatsu Mining Germany GmbH with the overall creation and from creating and supporting the technical documentation, from the maintenance and repair instructions up to the troubleshooting manual. These are, amongst others, also the creation of technical newsletters for service, the conversion and revision of existing service literature as well as the printing, packaging and distribution of the documents.
Moreover, arvato services is acting as an advisory capacity for the entire documentation environment and works on continually improving all work processes in the scope of our quality management in cooperation with the customer.
